Rob, what a beautiful and fitting tribute to Joanne! Although I didn't know Joanne well, our paths crossed many times over the years since the first time I met the Penseyres' on the AYH Christmas trip in the mid-80's. Her departure is a huge loss to the many communities in which she was involved. Thanks for sharing this Rob.

I met Joanne and Pete on Rob's first Second Summer Tours adventure, a week on Maui. I thought the highlight of the trip was going to be climbing Haleakala, but how wrong I was. In the five years since, I've talked about this trip to many people....and I'd estimate that 20% of my comments were about the ride itself and 80% was about the incredible opportunity to get to know Pete and Joanne.
Rob, thanks for keeping her memory alive here. I wish I would have had the chance to spend more time with them, but I'm thankful even for that week.

What a beautiful and moving tribute to Joanne. It brought me to tears. Mike and I heard of her death and were quite shocked. I am very glad that we got to meet her on our Maui trip. What a totally beautiful person. I am glad that you wrote this. Carolyn Kalish
